Kokrajhar: The Swearing-in Ceremony of the 5th Executive Council of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) was held today at the BTC Secretariat Field, Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar. Assam Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota administered the oath of office in the presence of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Hagrama Mohilary, President of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), took oath as the BTC Chief, while senior leader Rihon Daimary became the Deputy Chief. Later, Tridip Daimari was sworn in as the Protem Speaker of the BTC Legislative Assembly.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the National Flag and floral tributes at key Bodoland landmarks. Despite heavy rain, a large crowd gathered to witness the event. Addressing the public, Mohilary said, “This rain is not just rain, it’s a blessing. God has washed away the stagnation that had settled in Bodoland for years.”
He assured people of full support from the new council and called for cooperation from both ruling and opposition members. Mohilary also expressed hope for continued assistance from the Assam Government under CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to address issues in the region.
The event was attended by several Assam Cabinet Ministers, senior leaders from Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Tripura, and local MLAs.
