20-Year-Old Girl Injured after Individuals Put Chili Powder on Her Private Parts in Guwahati, four arrested

Guwahati: A 20-year-old girl sustained injuries after a group of individuals allegedly entered her house under the Satgaon police station area in Guwahati. The victim filed a written FIR against seven accused persons on May 17, 2023.

According to the complainant, the accused persons physically assaulted her, tore her clothes, and used derogatory language. They further applied chili powder to her private parts, resulting in grievous injuries.

The police report states:

  1. The victim and her deaf and dumb mother were sent to GMCH for medical treatment during the preliminary inquiry.
  2. Statements of the victim and her mother, as well as witnesses present at the scene, were recorded.
  3. Three accused persons were arrested and presented before the court of CJM, Kamrup (M).
  4. The victim and her mother’s statements were judicially recorded under section 164 Cr.PC by the CJM court, Kamrup (M).
  5. Medical reports of the victim and her mother were collected from GMCH, Bhangagarh, Guwahati.
  6. Based on the victim’s statement recorded under section 164 CrPC, another accused in the case was arrested and presented before the honorable court of CJM, Kamrup (M).

The city police stated, “During investigations, it has been revealed that the victim/complainant had a long-standing love relationship with one person associated with the accused party. The accused persons, who are close family members, disapproved of the relationship.”

“Out of the eight accused persons, four have been arrested so far. According to the victim’s statement under section 164 CrPC, the main accused touched her private parts. She also mentioned being married to one of the accused individuals. However, the victim recently submitted an affidavit to the police station expressing her desire to withdraw the case. The investigation is ongoing, and based on the findings so far, it is not a case of gang rape, as reported by some media outlets,” clarified the police.
