Youths and Activists Organize Cleanliness Drive at Deepar Beel

Guwahati: On February 2, 20 youths from Chakardo village, along with NGO NEWS, organized an awareness meeting and cleanliness drive near the bird-watching compound of Deepar Beel. The initiative aimed to highlight environmental issues affecting the wetland.

Environment activist and general secretary of Deepar Beel Suraksha Manch, Pramod Kalita, addressed the gathering. The local youths urged the government to shut down the nearby dumping ground and take measures to stop garbage and polluted water from Guwahati flowing into the Beel through the Pamohi River.

Several environmental activists, including Pranab Kalita, Akash Ingti, Benjamin Ingti, and Daksha Ingti, attended the event. The participants stressed the need for immediate action to protect the wetland and its biodiversity.
