Guwahati: Guwahati and nearby districts are experiencing unusually high temperatures for November, with winter yet to make its expected arrival. Usually, this time of the year brings cooler weather, but so far, there is no sign of the usual seasonal chill.

On November 18, Guwahati recorded a high of 30°C, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that these warm conditions will continue until at least November 24. During this time, the minimum temperature is expected to stay between 17°C and 19°C. Adding to the unusual situation, no foggy mornings are expected in Guwahati until November 22, a stark difference from the region’s typical November weather.

Several other areas in Assam are also feeling the warmth. On November 18, Silchar reported 29°C, Jorhat 27°C, North Lakhimpur 28°C, Goalpara 22°C, and Golaghat 21°C. People who usually start wearing woolens by mid-November are left waiting as the cool winter breeze remains absent.
