Guwahati: Victor Das was taken into custody by Dadara Police on Tuesday during a planned operation.
Police said he was picked up from his residence as part of an ongoing investigation. A case has been registered based on complaints filed by Pet Love Foundation Assam and Animal Crime Control.
As per the complaint, two local residents have accused him of creating panic in the area, damaging property, and attacking a domestic animal.
Animal welfare groups have also filed a separate complaint, alleging that a dog was seriously injured in the Hajo–Dadara area.
The case has been reported to senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati. Organisations like PETA India are also keeping a close watch on the matter.
Police officials said the investigation is going on and action will be taken based on evidence.
