Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal Invited to Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit During London Roadshow

Assam Industry Minister Bimal Borah extended an invitation to Vedanta Resources Chairman Anil Agarwal to attend the Advantage Assam 2.0: Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025. The invitation was presented during a roadshow in London, ahead of the summit scheduled for February 25-26 in Guwahati.

Minister Borah highlighted Assam’s economic transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, emphasizing the state’s strategic location, infrastructure growth, and investor-friendly policies. Anil Agarwal expressed interest in Assam’s development goals, particularly in skill development and entrepreneurship, aligning with Vedanta’s commitment to inclusive growth.

The London roadshow also saw discussions with UK officials, including Catherine West, the British Minister for Indo-Pacific, focusing on economic and cultural collaborations. Minister Borah visited innovation hubs like Space Scale White City and the Imperial Innovation Hub to explore technological advancements.

The global outreach for the summit includes roadshows across Malaysia, Dubai, Thailand, Bhutan, Mumbai, and New Delhi, with Singapore announced as the first partner country. Ministers from Assam have been engaging global investors, with a focus on sectors like semiconductors, green energy, aerospace, and manufacturing.

The summit will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India and feature sessions on various sectors, including a cultural showcase of Jhumoor performances by 7,500 artists. Assam aims to double its GDP to $140.5 billion by 2030, making Advantage Assam 2.0 a crucial step toward its goal of becoming a global economic hub.
