Transformer Explosion in Guwahati’s Birubari Area Injures Four

Guwahati: In a tragic incident on Wednesday, at around 3.30 PM, a transformer explosion in the Birubari area of Guwahati resulted in the hospitalization of four individuals at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH). The victims, Rinki Tiwari (35), Mira Tiwari (4), Rohit Ali (40), and Nishant Tiwari (7), sustained severe injuries.

Dr. Abhijit Sarma, GMCH superintendent, reported that Rinki Tiwari has burns covering 25%-30% of her body. Mira Tiwari has the most severe burns, with 30%-40% of her body affected. Nishant Tiwari has burns covering 2%-8% of his body, while Rohit Ali has burns on 10%-15% of his body.

Doctors at GMCH are closely monitoring the victims, prioritizing intensive care for those most critically injured. This incident has raised serious concerns over the safety and maintenance of electrical infrastructure in the city. Authorities have pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion and to enhance safety measures to prevent such tragic events in the future.
