Tragic Case of Human-Elephant Conflict Claims a Life in Guwahati City


Guwahati May 23 : In a distressing incident of human-elephant conflict, a wild elephant trampled a man in Guwahati city. The unfortunate incident occurred in the Garchuk locality of the city. Following the incident, the body of the deceased has been transferred to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, where post-mortem procedures will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death.

According to a media report, a herd of wild elephants had wandered outside the boundaries of the Gorbhanga reserve forest. Tragically, the victim encountered one of the elephants from the herd and was attacked.

This incident highlights the alarming issue of human-wildlife conflict and the potential dangers that arise when wild animals venture into human-populated areas. It serves as a reminder of the need for proactive measures to mitigate such conflicts and ensure the safety of both humans and wildlife.
