Guwahati: The Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) party has vehemently opposed the reservation of seats for NRIs in medical colleges across Assam.
During a press conference held at the party headquarters in Guwahati today, Dilip Kumar Sharma, Chairman of the Media Department, expressed his concerns, stating, “The decision to reserve 10 percent of seats in MBBS courses for NRIs in Assam’s medical colleges is not in the best interest of Assam and its people. This move will deprive deserving students from Assam of the opportunity to pursue medical education. With a total of 1,500 seats available for MBBS courses in Assam, the number of unreserved seats will significantly decrease due to this recent decision by the Assam government. We strongly oppose this measure,” stated the TMC leader.
