Guwahati: A three-day social and cultural programme will be held at Zubeen Khetra in Kamarkuchi, Sonapur, from September 17 to 19 in memory of popular Assamese artist Zubeen Garg.
People from different communities and groups across Assam are expected to take part in the programme to remember Zubeen Garg’s life, ideals and contribution to Assam’s cultural world.
The programme will begin on the morning of September 17 with prayer. A night-long cultural programme will start in the evening, where different communities will present traditional prayers, music and cultural performances as a tribute to Zubeen Garg.
On September 18, a special cultural programme will be organised featuring folk dances, songs, music and traditional performances by different tribal and non-tribal communities of Assam.
On the final day, September 19, an Asan Pratistha ceremony will be held in the morning, followed by a Bhagavat recital. The three-day programme will end in the evening with a traditional Bhaona performance.
A meeting was held at Zubeen Khetra to discuss preparations for the event. Garima Saikia Garg, members of the Zubeen Garg Fan Club, Zubeen Khetra Management Committee, Agragamini Socio-Cultural Mancha and Shankhadhwani Socio-Cultural Mancha took part in the discussion.
Fans, well-wishers and culture lovers from different parts of the state are expected to gather at Zubeen Khetra to pay tribute to the beloved artist.
