Guwahati: The Special Task Force (STF) Assam arrested a wanted extremist, Ajibar Rahman (31), from Chinamari village in Dhubri district as part of Operation Praghat. Rahman was linked to a Global Terrorist Organisation (GTO) and is the 14th arrest in connection with the case.
The arrests stem from investigations into STF Assam Police Case No. 21/2024, which previously led to the detention of 13 individuals, including Bangladeshi nationals. These individuals were reportedly operating under the instructions of Md. Farhan Israk, a close associate of Jasimuddin Rahmani, leader of the Ansarullah Bangla Team.
The investigation revealed that the group aimed to spread extremist ideologies and enhance the operational capabilities of terror outfits.
The STF continues to investigate the case to uncover the full extent of the network operating across the country. So far, 14 extremists linked to the case have been arrested.
