Guwahati: The State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Assam, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Ghanakanta Baruah College, Morigaon, in collaboration with Jarabari Agro Producers Co-operative Society Ltd. The agreement, aimed at executing a “Scientific Goat Farming” project, was signed in the presence of SITA Vice Chairman Narayan Chandra Borkataky at Janata Bhawan, Dispur.
Chief Executive Officer of SITA, P. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, IAS, and GB College Principal Dr. Bishnu Prasad Upadhaya signed the MoA on behalf of their respective institutions. The project focuses on equipping individuals with practical skills in goat farming, establishing a village-level knowledge-sharing center, and providing capacity-building training to women farmers.
The initiative will be implemented in four clusters, each consisting of 20 women beneficiaries. Financial aid will be provided to each cluster after mandatory training to ensure successful farm operations. Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Borkataky highlighted the project’s potential to boost Assam’s agricultural economy and enhance livestock productivity while empowering women in farming.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Panchi Devi, Nodal & Coordinating Officer, Dr. Jintu Deka, Assistant Professor at GB College, along with beneficiaries from Jarabari Agro Producers Co-operative Society Ltd. and officials from SITA.
