Guwahati: The state of Assam has witnessed a concerning rise in road accidents. In the month of June 2023, there were a total of 555 accidents reported, compared to 500 in June 2022. Tragically, the number of fatalities also increased to 255, compared to 235 recorded last year.
Expressing his deep concern over the matter, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledged the alarming rise in road accidents in the state.

It is worth noting that Assam police have recently been strictly enforcing traffic rules, imposing fines on violators. However, despite these measures, the increasing number of traffic accidents remains a cause for concern among the citizens.
