Kokrajhar: Resonia conducted a comprehensive capacity-building session for frontline health workers under its AROGYA Bandhu Project at Kauniabhasa Bhatipara as part of its efforts to strengthen community-led healthcare services in Assam.
The programme was organised under the ongoing Frontline Workers Capacity Building Series and was led by a Medical Officer. The session focused on improving awareness and basic screening skills related to cervical cancer, breast cancer, oral cancer and antenatal care (ANC).
ASHA workers and an ASHA Supervisor participated in the training session, which aimed to strengthen last-mile healthcare delivery through early symptom identification, community awareness, referral systems and regular health check-ups, especially for women and vulnerable groups.
Interactive discussions were also held to improve the field-level understanding of participants and help them respond more effectively to health concerns within their communities.
A Medical Officer associated with the programme said frontline health workers play a crucial role in the rural healthcare system and that providing them with practical knowledge and screening skills can help ensure early detection and timely intervention for preventable diseases.
Alongside the training session, a Special ANC Drive was also organised for pregnant women in the area. Several expectant mothers attended the camp, where health screenings including blood pressure, random blood sugar, haemoglobin and liver function tests were conducted. Medicines were distributed based on medical assessments.
Health awareness sessions were also conducted by the ANM and Medical Officer, focusing on anemia management during pregnancy, balanced nutrition, hygiene, regular check-ups and safe motherhood practices.
One of the participating ASHA workers said the training had increased their confidence in identifying early symptoms and guiding women in villages regarding important health issues and maternal care.
According to the organisers, the initiative reflects Resonia’s integrated public healthcare approach focused on preventive care, capacity building and community participation to improve healthcare access and outcomes at the grassroots level across Assam.
