Ravi Kota Named New Chief Secretary of Assam

Guwahati: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, Ravi Kota is slated to assume the role of Chief Secretary in the Assam government. His appointment takes effect from the superannuation date of Paban Kumar Borthakur, the current Chief Secretary, on March 31.

Alongside his new role, Kota will serve as Additional Chief Secretary for the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department, and Finance Department, with an additional charge of OSD to the Government of Assam in the Office of Chief Secretary.

Notably, Kota, a 1993 batch IAS officer, previously held the position of Additional Chief Secretary for the Home & Political Department, encompassing Passport and Prisons, since September of the previous year. This reshuffle extends beyond Kota, affecting various high-ranking bureaucrats within the Assam government per the latest order from authorities.
