Guwahati : Mr. Rajinder Kumar Bhumbla, IG, assumed the position of Inspector General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Frontier Guwahati on June 12, 2023. He received a warm welcome with a Guard of Honour and was presented with a traditional Assamese Gamcha and bouquet by Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, the outgoing IG.
Mr. Bhumbla interacted with all the officers and officials of Frontier Guwahati, motivating them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism. Later in the day, he reviewed the operational preparedness of the units under Frontier Guwahati.
Mr. Rajinder Kumar Bhumbla is a 1987 batch Direct Entry SSB Cadre Officer who has served in various capacities within SSB and has also been a part of the NSG.
Upon assuming the role of IG Frontier Hqrs. Guwahati, Mr. Bhumbla emphasized that the primary role of SSB is to ensure the security of the Indo-Bhutan border while also creating a sense of security among the border population.
He stressed the importance of cooperation among all stakeholders for effective border management in the state.
Frontier Guwahati SSB is effectively guarding the 227 km Indo-Bhutan Border, which spans across districts Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Udalguri.
