Guwahati: Purabi Dairy has congratulated Bharat Kalita, president of Kamdhenu Dugdha Utpadak Samabay Samiti, for receiving the Assam Gaurav Award for his role in Assam’s dairy revolution.
The Assam government has honored Bharat Kalita, a dairy farmer and president of Kamdhenu Dugdha Utpadak Samabay Samiti, with the Assam Gaurav Award for his role in Assam’s milk revolution. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Kalita’s contribution, calling him “Assam’s Verghese Kurien”. His dairy cooperative, affiliated with Purabi Dairy (WAMUL), has significantly boosted milk production in Bajali, supplying 4,500-7,000 litres of milk daily.
Kalita expressed gratitude, crediting Purabi Dairy and NDDB for their support in Assam’s dairy growth. NDDB Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah and WAMUL MD Sameer Kumar Parida also congratulated him, acknowledging his leadership in empowering local farmers.
