Guwahati: Popular American rapper Post Malone may perform in Guwahati on December, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press conference in Golaghat on Wednesday.
The concert is likely to be part of a new project called the “concert economy”. This initiative is launched by the Assam government to promote music events and attract tourists and businesses to the state.
Speaking about this new idea, CM Sarma said, “We have seen other places holding big concerts. Even a Coldplay concert in Ahmedabad helped the state earn around ₹600 crore. In this year’s budget, we had talked about supporting such events, and now the Cabinet has officially approved this policy.”
Post Malone, known for global hits like Sunflower and Rockstar, first performed in India in 2022 at a concert in Mumbai. If the Guwahati concert is confirmed, it will be his second visit to India.
However, no official announcement has yet come from Post Malone or his team about the Guwahati performance.
