Dimapur: Pabitra Margherita attended the 19th Rozgar Mela organised by Indian Railways in Dimapur on Saturday, where 129 appointment letters were distributed to newly recruited candidates from various government departments.

The Rozgar Mela was organised at 47 locations across the country. During the programme, Narendra Modi virtually distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to youths across India.

Addressing the gathering, Pabitra Margherita said the Rozgar Mela reflects the Union Government’s commitment to transparent, merit-based and fast-track recruitment. He stated that more than 11 lakh appointment letters have already been distributed through the previous 18 editions of the programme.

Congratulating the newly recruited candidates, the minister described the appointments as the beginning of a meaningful journey in public service. He encouraged the youth to work with dedication and contribute towards nation-building.

Speaking about the Northeast, Margherita said the region has witnessed major development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted improvements in connectivity, infrastructure and employment opportunities across the region.

Referring to railway development, he said the annual railway budget for the Northeast has increased from ₹2,122 crore during 2009–14 to ₹11,486 crore in 2026–27. He added that projects worth ₹72,468 crore are currently being implemented in the region.

The minister also highlighted that Nagaland recently received its second railway station at Shokhuvi after nearly 119 years, calling it a major milestone for connectivity in the state.

He further said that Indian Railways has electrified nearly 99.2 percent of its network and is moving towards complete electrification under Mission 100% Electrification.

Pabitra Margherita urged the newly appointed youths to become active contributors to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and thanked parents and families for supporting the candidates throughout their journey.
