FIFA has officially selected and accredited Assamese photojournalist Geetika Talukdar to cover the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This will be the third consecutive Men’s FIFA World Cup covered by Geetika Talukdar in her career. She is the only female photojournalist from India who will represent the Indian media team at this year’s FIFA World Cup.
Earlier, she covered the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. She also covered the 2019 Women’s FIFA World Cup in France, the 2023 Women’s FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the Tokyo Olympics and the Paris Olympics.
Her repeated selection by FIFA highlights her growing reputation and contribution in international sports photography and journalism.
Reacting to the achievement, Geetika Talukdar said receiving official FIFA accreditation once again is a proud and emotional moment for her.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. It will be the biggest FIFA World Cup in history with 48 participating nations.
Geetika Talukdar will travel next month to cover the global football tournament.
