Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Indian Army, has successfully installed Automatic Weather Stations in remote regions of Arunachal Pradesh. This initiative aims to enhance weather monitoring capabilities in challenging terrains.

To ensure the effective operation of these weather stations, a specialized training program was conducted from February 27th to 28th, 2024. The program focused on installation, preventive, and corrective maintenance of Satellite-Based Automatic Weather Stations, tailored for army personnel.
The inaugural session featured a lecture by Sri K.N. Mohan, Scientist-G, providing insights into Automatic Weather Station components. Dr. Sanjay O’Neill Shaw, Scientist-F, and other dignitaries graced the event.

Dr. M. Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology, India Meteorological Department, interacted with army officials on the concluding day, emphasizing their crucial role in weather monitoring efforts.
