Guwahati: Dispur Police arrested Dhruv Kalita for trying to cheat his organisation by staging a fake theft. Kalita had earlier told police that someone stole ₹7 lakh in cash from his bag. During the investigation, police searched his rented house and found the entire ₹7 lakh there.
Police said Kalita planned the fake theft to keep the money for himself. The recovery happened during a police operation led by DCP Mrinal Deka.After finding the cash, police took Kalita into custody. They charged him with cheating and misuse of company money. Police are now checking if anyone else helped him.
Dispur Police said the case shows how the accused trapped himself in his own plan.
