Sports Desk : India’s Lakshya Sen, a Commonwealth Games Gold medalist, claimed the men’s singles title at the Canada Open 2023 by defeating China’s Li Shi Feng, the reigning All England champion and currently ranked 10th in the world, in straight games with scores of 21-18, 22-20.
This marks Lakshya’s second BWF World Tour 500 title, having previously won the India Open in January 2022.
Lakshya, currently ranked 19th in the world, emerged victorious by defeating Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn (WR-4) in the Round of 32, Japan’s Kento Nishimoto (WR-11) in the semifinals, and China’s Li Shi Feng (WR-10) in the summit clash, securing the coveted title.
