Inter-Battalion Sports Shooting Championship Underway in Guwahati

Guwahati: The firing range of 4 Assam Police Battalion in Kahilipara, Guwahati, is currently abuzz with activity as the Inter-Battalion Sports Shooting Championship for selected Cadets from seven states of Northeast India is in full swing. Organized by the 30 Assam Battalion NCC under the auspices of NCC Directorate NER, the competition is a platform to identify the best firers from the entire NER region.

A total of 311 selected Cadets have descended upon Guwahati to showcase their shooting prowess, aiming to secure a spot in the prestigious Inter-Directorate Sports Shooting Championship scheduled to take place in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, from July 2nd. Among them, a team of 22 cadets will be chosen to represent the region in the national arena.

Hailing from remote corners such as Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, Lungleng in Mizoram, and Mokokchung in Nagaland, these cadets are currently stationed at the CATC cum IBSSC camp at Sarusajai Sports Stadium in Guwahati.

Colonel S. Anup Singh, Commanding Officer of 30 Assam Battalion NCC, emphasized the importance of preparation, stating that the selected team will undergo three days of intensive practice at the indoor shooting range in Kahilipara. This practice will not only familiarize them with world-class facilities but also equip them with the skills needed to excel in the upcoming competition.

The championship, which commenced on April 17, 2023, is set to culminate on April 25, 2024, promising fierce competition and memorable performances from the talented cadets representing the Northeast region.
