Guwahati: Guwahati Police quickly solved the “Lal Mirch Heist” just three hours after the case was reported. The case involved Anil Sharma, who claimed that someone threw red chilli powder in his eyes and stole ₹6 lakh near a Union Bank ATM.

Anil Sharma went to the police and said he was attacked and robbed. But the police became suspicious.

The Panbazar Police Station and Fancy Bazaar Outpost team used CCTV footage and smart questioning to find the truth. After checking all the details, they found that Anil Sharma had made up the story. He planned the fake robbery with a friend.

By 6:30 PM, the police found the full amount of ₹6.28 lakh hidden on Anil Sharma’s terrace. The police have now started legal action against him.

Guwahati Police posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter):
“When the curry got too hot, the truth boiled over.”

They called the case the “Lal Mirch Heist” because of the use of red chilli powder in the fake robbery.
