CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Attends Mopin Festival in Aalo

Aalo (Arunachal Pradesh): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the 59th central celebration of Mopin Festival of the Galo tribe in Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh, on Friday. Calling it a celebration of Arunachal’s rich heritage, he said the festival reflects unity, prosperity, and gratitude towards nature.

Dr. Sarma praised the Galo community’s sacred harvest festival and highlighted the importance of preserving indigenous culture through traditional songs, dances, and rituals.

Extending greetings on behalf of Assam, he described Arunachal as a “living canvas of cultural magnificence” and lauded the region’s transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East Policy’ and ‘Transformation through Transportation’ initiatives.

Dr. Sarma also stressed the deep ties between Assam and Arunachal, expressing hope that all border disputes will be resolved soon. He announced that Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s centenary in 2026 will be jointly celebrated by both states.

The event saw the presence of Arunachal CM Pema Khandu, other state ministers, and dignitaries including football coach Gumpe Rime and Brigadier Shahid Ahmed Khan.
