Guwahati Police Seize Yaba Tablets Worth ₹5 Crore, One Arrested

Guwahati: The Guwahati City Police seized 20,000 Yaba (WY) tablets worth around ₹5 crore during a raid on the Coimbatore Express at the Guwahati Railway Station. The operation was carried out by the CGPD team of Panbazar Police Station, based on reliable intelligence.

The police arrested Parvina Khatun Bibi (31), a resident of Cooch Behar, West Bengal, in connection with the case. During the raid, the police also recovered one mobile phone and ₹1,000 in cash from her possession.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the seizure in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote:

“Acting on credible intelligence, @GhyCityPolice intercepted a suspect at Guwahati Railway Station and seized the following: – 20,000 WY tablets, valued at approximately ₹4-5 crore – One mobile handset – ₹1,000 in cash One individual has been arrested in connection with the case.”

The police have registered a case and are further investigating the source and destination of the drugs.
