Guwahati: A team from Chandmari Police Station (CGPD) apprehended Bhaskar Kalita (26) of Kampur and Arjun Malakar of Umrangshu, both of whom were working as Swiggy delivery boys. The duo was wanted for involvement in multiple snatching and robbery incidents across Guwahati.
Bhaskar Kalita was arrested in connection with a recent robbery on Rajgarh Road. He had allegedly snatched a gold chain and robbed two gold earrings, threatening the victim with a sharp weapon. Police seized the dagger and the scooty used in the crime from his possession.
In a separate case, Arjun Malakar was caught for snatching a mobile phone in Pub Sarania. Authorities recovered the stolen mobile phone and the scooty used in the act.
Both individuals have been charged, and legal action has been initiated against them. Their involvement in street crimes, such as snatching mobile phones and gold chains, raises concerns about the misuse of delivery jobs as a cover for criminal activities. Police are continuing investigations to uncover any additional cases linked to the suspects.
