Guwahati– The Maligaon-based acting and music institute Gandharba is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary with the 2nd Annual Gandharba Drama Festival and a series of cultural and competitive events. The two-day drama festival will be held on December 6 and 7, 2024, at the Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia Auditorium, Boripara, Maligaon, Guwahati.
Drama Festival Highlights
- December 6: The first evening will honor renowned artist Sudakshina Sharma with the play Dristanto, written by Himjyoti Baishya and directed by Dhrubajyoti Kumar, performed by Gandharba. This will be followed by Priyabandhu, a play by IPTA, written and directed by Naren Patgiri.
- Natya Prabaah, a book by cultural journalist Atul Majumder, will also be released by Naren Patgiri during the event.
- December 7: The second evening will pay tribute to beloved actor Jayanta Das with a Sattriya dance performance by Dimpee Baishya, a Bismillah Khan Award recipient. The evening will conclude with Halodhiya Manuh, written by Abhijit Ranjan Bhattacharya and directed by Manmath Baruah, presented by Natasurya, Guwahati.

- Jiban Silpi Adya Sarma Memorial Painting Competition:
- Date: December 7, 2024
- Time: From 3:00 PM
- Open to students from classes 1 to 6.
- 14th Annual Bhupendra Sangeet Competition:
- Date: December 8, 2024
- Time: From 10:00 AM
- Categories:
- Section A: Below 15 years
- Section B: Above 15 years
- Contestants must provide an age certificate. Music accompanists will be arranged by the organizers, and participants are expected to dress modestly.
The competitions will conclude with a cultural program and a prize distribution ceremony on December 8, where winners will receive cash prizes and certificates.
