Guwahati: The Gorchuk Police Station team and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of West District apprehended three notorious bike lifters in a major crackdown. The arrested individuals include:
- Md. Abdul Hanif Seikh (32), from Dhuburi
- Md. Rafiq Ali (30), from Kamrup (R)
- Md. Jakir Hussain (27), from Barpeta
Based on their interrogation, a follow-up operation was conducted in Jowai, Meghalaya, with assistance from the Meghalaya Police. This led to the arrest of three bike receivers near the India-Bangladesh border:
- Dibormi Amrynsong (26), from West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya
- Tunadahun Matra (25), from West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya
- Rimiki Suchiag (22), from Jowai, Meghalaya
Recoveries
- One Royal Enfield was recovered from Jowai Bypass.
- Two other bikes, a Bajaj Avenger and a Royal Enfield, were recovered from Karkhana village near the India-Bangladesh border.
- Tools used for bike theft, including master keys, an iron cutter, and a hand saw, were seized.
The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the bike-lifting network.
