Guwahati Asian Film Festival 2025 Concludes

Guwahati: The first edition of the Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF) 2025 ended with Haobam Paban Kumar’s ‘Joseph’s Son’ winning the Best Film award. The closing ceremony took place before the screening of My Melbourne, directed by Imtiaz Ali, Rima Das, Onir, and Kabir Khan.

Held at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio from February 7-9, the festival featured top filmmakers, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts. Renowned filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage, actor Sheeba Chaddha, and director Onir participated in discussions on cinema, activism, and LGBTQ+ representation in films.

  • Jury Special Mention (Performance): Minakshi Kalita (Amateurs)
  • Jury Special Mention (Cinematography): Nahid Ahmed (Collage)

Honorary Festival Director Monita Borgohain, IAS, praised the enthusiasm and cultural exchange, stating, “GAFF 2025 was a vibrant celebration of storytelling. We look forward to an even bigger edition next year!”

GAFF 2025, organized by Trending Now Media, featured 25 films from over 200 submissions across Asia, showcasing diverse stories from Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and more. The festival was powered by GMDA, Indian Oil, NRL, Assam Tourism, Bodoland Tourism, and other partners.
