Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed sadness over a road accident that claimed the lives of seven students from Assam Engineering College. He offered condolences to the families and promised medical help for the injured. CM Sarma mentioned on Twitter that he was deeply saddened by the loss of young lives in the Jalukbari accident. He extended his sympathies to the parents and families affected and assured that the injured would receive necessary medical assistance.
Earlier a road accident reported near the office of the West Deputy Police Commissioner at around 1 AM on May 29 where seven students lost their lives.

According to reports, the students were traveling in a speeding four-wheeler that collided with a divider. The impact of the collision proved fatal for all the occupants of the vehicle. The victims were identified as Arindam Bhallal,  Niyor Deka from Guwahati, Kausik Barua from Mangaldoi, Upangshu Sarma from Nagaon, Rajkiran Bhuyan from Majuli, Emon Gayan from Dibrugarh, and Kausik Mohan from Charaideo. It is heartbreaking to note that all of them were students of Jalukbari Engineering College.
