Guwahati: A free health camp was organized for the residents of Pramod Memorial Old Age Home in Beltola and Senior Citizens Home in Hatigaon, Guwahati. The initiative was led by NGO Sampoorna, a project of the Deepjyoti India Foundation in Mumbai, in collaboration with the AMC Alumni Association and Academic Forum, Guwahati, with assistance from Wintrobe Hospital.
The health camp offered a comprehensive range of services, including eye and ENT checkups, as well as screenings for hypertension and diabetes, including blood sugar estimation. The event was attended by renowned specialists such as Dr. Subhra Das, Director of the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology at GMCH, Dr. Anjana Choudhury, ENT specialist Dr. Shamim Ahmed, and a team of nurses from Wintrobe Hospital. Founders of NGO Sampoorna, Mrs. Deepjyoti Garg, and Program Director Ms. Amrita Borkotoky, along with social worker Ms. Anubhuti Bhattacharya, were also present.
The medical team, comprising Dr. Amal Chandra Kataki, Dr. Kaushik Jagannath Kataki, Dr. NK Beria, and Dr. Rabin Saikia, examined more than 70 patients. Additionally, 19 cases of cataracts were detected, and all patients will receive free surgeries at GMCH.
The NGO expressed gratitude to the AMC Alumni Association and Academic Forum, Guwahati, and Wintrobe Hospital for their support. Dr. A.C. Kataki highlighted the importance of preventive and promotive healthcare for the elderly during the camp.
