CATC Camp Successfully Completed in Narangi, Guwahati

Guwahati: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) girls cadets of 60 Assam Girls Bn NCC, Guwahati, under NCC Gp HQ, Guwahati, concluded a 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-02 on May 2, 2024, at Narangi Transit Facility (NTF), Narangi(Guwahati). The camp, which ran from April 23 to May 2, was attended by 482 SD/SW & JW/JD along with Six Associate NCC Officers (ANOs).

The CATC served as a platform for learning, camaraderie, and skill enhancement for the cadets from diverse areas in and around Guwahati. The training focused on Range Drill, firing, and specialized training with emphasis on community living, discipline, First-aid, character, and confidence building. The curriculum aimed to hone the cadets’ skills in numerous domains and will also serve as an eligibility criterion for A, B, and C certificate Examinations.

During the 10-day period, various activities including morning PT, Drill, Map reading, firing practice, tent pitching, tug of war, and volley ball matches were conducted. Guest lectures were delivered by NDRF, NEDFi, SBI bank, Exchange Participants’ Association (EXPA) team, IAF Recruitment officials, Medical officers, and others. Cultural programs and competitions such as volleyball, debate, painting, elocution, firing, tug of war, and drill were organized, with cadets being felicitated with prizes on the final day.

Col Ajay Kumar Sharma, the Camp Commandant, commended the NCC girls cadets for their success, highlighting the values of discipline, physical fitness, leadership, and camaraderie instilled by the National Cadet Corps. He encouraged the cadets to be disciplined and sincere towards life, emphasizing their role as flag bearers of NCC and ambassadors for motivating other students and cadets. He underscored the importance of such camps in providing cadets with insights into the Army way of life and fostering lifelong friendships.
