Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Passes Away at 92

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, passed away on Thursday at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, where he was admitted, confirmed the news in a statement.

“With profound grief, we inform the demise of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and had a sudden loss of consciousness at home on December 26, 2024,” AIIMS said.

Resuscitation efforts were initiated immediately at his residence. He was rushed to AIIMS at 8:06 pm, but despite all medical efforts, he could not be revived. Dr. Singh was declared dead at 9:51 pm.

Dr. Manmohan Singh served as the Prime Minister of India for two consecutive terms from 2004 to 2014, leading the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. Known for his economic acumen and calm demeanor, he played a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic policies as the Finance Minister in the early 1990s and later as the Prime Minister.

He had been battling health issues for the past few months. Dr. Singh leaves behind a legacy of dedicated public service and economic reforms that transformed India’s trajectory.
