Confusion Over Saraswati Puja Date in Assam

Many People in Assam are uncertain about the exact date of Saraswati Puja in 2025. The festival, also known as Basant Panchami or Vasant Panchami, is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, music, and arts. However, this year, the celebration date has created confusion, especially among schools and colleges.

Astrologers explain that Vasant Panchami starts on February 2 and continues until February 3. The significance of the festival is stronger on the day when the sun rises during the tithi. Based on this, February 3 holds more astrological importance, leading many organizations to schedule the puja on that day.

Since Saraswati Puja falls on February 2, which is a Sunday, many are unsure whether educational institutions will celebrate it on that day or shift the celebrations to February 3. Traditionally, schools and colleges hold grand celebrations for Saraswati Puja, but the holiday falling on a Sunday has raised questions about whether institutions will remain closed or conduct the puja on an alternative date.

Despite this, some institutions and individuals may still choose to perform the puja on February 2, following their own traditions and convenience. As a result, celebrations in Assam may take place on both days, depending on individual and institutional preferences.
