CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Reviews Development Work in Udalguri District
Udalguri: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Udalguri district to review the progress of key government schemes and development activities on July 3. Chairing a high-level review meeting at the District Commissioner’s office, the Chief Minister assessed the implementation of major welfare initiatives including Orunodoi 3.0, Mukhya Mantrir Mahila Udyamita Abhijan, Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan, and Eti Koli Duti Paat.
Dr. Sarma urged district officials to ensure proper execution of these schemes and maximize public awareness to guarantee last-mile delivery. He emphasized the importance of the expanded Orunodoi 3.0 scheme, which now aims to cover 1.17 lakh families, up from 58,000 in earlier phases. He directed officials to ensure all eligible beneficiaries are included.
Reviewing the Mukhya Mantrir Mahila Udyamita Abhijan, Dr. Sarma highlighted the financial support being offered to Self Help Group members over three years to start and expand businesses. He called for thorough preparedness to empower 1.7 lakh women through the scheme.
Under the Mukhya Mantrir Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan, around 2,500 youths from Udalguri will receive financial aid of Rs. 2 lakh each. The CM instructed officials to ensure timely delivery and proper planning for the program’s success.
The Chief Minister also took stock of the ‘Eti Koli Duti Paat’ initiative. In view of the 200-year celebration of Assam’s tea industry, he stated that each Class III and IV tea garden worker—both permanent and temporary—will receive a one-time payment of Rs. 5,000. Dr. Sarma asked for accurate data compilation and equal distribution across Udalguri, Bhergaon, Tangla, and Majbat.
He also reviewed progress on infrastructure projects and visited the Sivasagar Medical College, Cancer Care Hospital in Demow, and the site of the Harmatigarh Bridge over the Dikhow River.
Accompanying the CM were Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, Minister Pijush Hazarika, MP Dilip Saikia, BTC Deputy CEM Gobindo Basumatary, and senior officials.
Later in the day, Dr. Sarma held meetings with representatives from organizations like AKRSU, All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani, All Bathou Mahasabha, All Adivasi Students’ Association, and the Rabha Students’ Union. He listened to their concerns and assured appropriate solutions.
