Patient Alleges Genitals Removed Without Consent During Biopsy in Silchar
Silchar: A shocking case of alleged medical negligence has come to light in Silchar, where a man claimed that his genitals were removed without his consent during a routine biopsy at a private hospital.
The patient, who is from Jiribam district in Manipur, had gone to the hospital in Silchar for treatment of an infection in his private parts. As part of the treatment, doctors suggested a biopsy to better understand the infection.
However, the man said that he was taken to the operation theatre without being told that a major surgery would be done. Later, he was shocked to find out that his entire genital organ had been removed.
“I didn’t know what had happened at first because of the bandage. But once it was removed, I saw what they had done,” he told the police.
The patient also said that the hospital management did not let him meet or speak to the doctor who performed the surgery. “They ignored my questions and did not allow me to talk to the doctor,” he added.
He has now filed a police complaint (FIR) accusing the surgeon of carrying out a serious and life-changing operation without his permission.
