AGP Plans Northeast Regional Convention, Sets Strategy for Upcoming Elections
Guwahati: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) held a high-level strategy meeting on Wednesday at its central office in Ambari, chaired by party president Atul Bora. The meeting focused on finalizing the roadmap for upcoming elections, including those in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and other autonomous councils.
In a major decision, the AGP leadership announced plans to host a convention of regional political parties from across the Northeast. The objective is to promote coordination and alliance-building among like-minded regional forces in the region.
AGP working president Keshab Mahanta and several central committee members attended the meeting, which also emphasized organizational strengthening and grassroots mobilization ahead of elections.
The party also began preparations for its foundation day celebration on October 14. It will be observed at both the district and mandal levels, aiming to actively involve party workers and the public.
To boost internal coordination, AGP resolved to hold zonal-level meetings with central executive members, district and constituency committees, and leaders of the youth and women’s wings.
The meeting witnessed participation from AGP vice presidents, general secretaries, office bearers, and frontal organization heads, highlighting a united effort to rejuvenate the party’s state-wide presence.
