In a tragic incident, at least two people lost their lives and eight others were injured after eight bogies of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed on Thursday afternoon in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. The derailment occurred at approximately 2:35 PM near Gonda In station at KM 638/19, under the jurisdiction of North Eastern Railway.

Railway officials have confirmed that relief and rescue operations have been concluded and a high-level inquiry into the accident has been initiated to determine the cause.
Following the derailment of train number 15904, several other trains have been diverted:
- 15707 Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express
- 15603 Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express
- 15910 Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Avadh Assam Express
The stranded passengers from the derailed train are being transported by bus to Mankapur station near Gonda. A special train has been arranged from Mankapur to Dibrugarh, with necessary stoppages en route to accommodate the passengers.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the derailment as they ensure the safety and well-being of the affected passengers.
