Cattle Smuggling in Oil Tanker Foiled, Two Arrested in Sonapur

Sonapur: On July 4, Sonapur police, located near Guwahati, intercepted an oil tanker and discovered cattle being smuggled inside. The police recovered a total of 36 cattle, out of which 11 were found dead. Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident.

According to the police, they received information about an oil tanker with registration number AS-05 C 1655 transporting cattle illegally and inhumanely from Dhemaji to Byrnihat, Meghalaya. Acting on the tip-off, the police intercepted the truck on the Sonapur highway flyover and seized 25 live cows and 11 deceased cattle. The driver of the vehicle, Guljar Hussain, and his accomplice, Aijul Ali, were arrested for their involvement in the smuggling operation. The duo failed to provide any valid documents for the transportation of the cattle.

The necessary legal procedures are currently being carried out in relation to the case.
