Guwahati: A blood broker identified by the surname Sheikh was apprehended by an employee at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday. The accused was caught red-handed accepting Rs. 10,000 for the sale of blood.
GMCH Superintendent Dr. Abhijit Sarma addressed the incident, stating, “Our blood bank in-charge, Dr. Dipankar Baruah, received a complaint today regarding the illegal sale of blood for Rs. 10,000. Following this, our employee caught the accused in the act, and we have subsequently handed him over to the police for further legal proceedings.”
“During interrogation, the accused admitted involvement with 10 more individuals engaged in the illicit trade of selling blood for monetary gain. The police will be conducting further investigations into this matter,” he added.
