The decision follows the UGC’s approval during its recent meeting on June 25, in line with the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Autonomous Colleges. This status, valid until the academic year 2033-2034 under UGC regulations, allows B Borooah College greater administrative flexibility and autonomy in academic matters.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the college’s management, faculty, and students for their dedication, acknowledging the positive impact of autonomous status on educational standards. The college will now proceed to issue official notifications as required by UGC guidelines within the next 30 days.
