Guwahati: The trailer of upcoming Assamese feature film Dipholu was launched at Matrix Cinemas, Beltola, Guwahati, on Tuesday. The film, produced by Borluit Productions, is scheduled for theatrical release on October 9, 2026.
The trailer launch was attended by members of the film’s cast and crew, including lead actors Amrita Gogoi and Subrat Deori. Several well-known personalities from Assam’s film and cultural fraternity, including Mridula Baruah, Arun Nath, Arun Hazarika and Purnada Hazarika, were also present at the event.
Directed by Nekib and produced by Jekiv, Dipholu is based on the realities of village life in Assam. The film combines humour, emotion and social themes while portraying the culture, traditions and everyday life of rural Assam.
Veteran Assamese actress Chetana Das was also felicitated during the event for receiving the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award 2025. She received the national honour from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi in August for her contribution to theatre and acting.
The trailer gives a glimpse into the life of the film’s protagonist and the different people and experiences that influence the character’s outlook on life. The story focuses on human relationships and unexpected connections against the backdrop of rural Assam.
Speaking at the event, director Nekib said the trailer launch was a special moment for the team after the long journey of making the film. He expressed hope that audiences would enjoy the film when it reaches theatres on October 9.
The film’s music is another important part of Dipholu. The soundtrack includes Xorogi Xopun, one of the last songs recorded by Assamese singer Zubeen Garg and his final duet with singer Gayatri Hazarika.
Another song, Prem Baru, features Zubeen Garg and Rupali Kashyap. The soundtrack also includes songs by Rakesh Reeyan and Montumoni Saikia. The lyrics have been written by Nekib, while Jekiv has composed and directed the music. One of the songs has been written by Gargee Bhattacharjee.
Dipholu marks Borluit Productions’ entry into feature-length cinema after its work on internationally recognised short films.
The film features an ensemble cast including Amrita Gogoi, Subrat Deori, Mridula Baruah, Arun Nath, Arun Hazarika, Purnada Hazarika, Rajib Dowari, Jotishman Bora, Kanika Nath, Anirban Kalita, Ankur Baidya, Dr Hitesh Baruah, Simashree Bora, Priyanshi Kashyap and Dibyapratim Bhagawati.
Following the trailer launch, the makers are preparing for the final phase of promotions ahead of the film’s theatrical release on October 9.
