Assam State Committee forms for the Association of Indian Journalists

Guwahati: The Assam State Committee of the Association of Indian Journalists was officially formed in the Guwahati Press Club on 18 February. More than 60 journalists from various parts of the state attended the meeting under the chairmanship of Kiran Kumar Gogoi.


Meanwhile, the meeting was held under the special supervision of Vinod Solanki, National Convener of General Cell and committee was formed with Kiran kumar Gogoi appointed as president, Uddipta Duwari and Anamika Nath as vice presidents. Veteran journalist Upen Kalita as working president, Pankaj Nath as Chief Secretary, Nitish Sarmah (Nibir) Bolin Deka, Hemanta Sarma appointed as joint secretaries. Jyotiprasad Bora, Himakshi Baruah as assistant secretaries.  Sanjay Kumar Kalita, Azizur Rahman, Rajeev Dev, Basanta Das, Utpal Medhi, Khaibor Mondal and Monawar Ali were appointed as the publicity secretaries of the committee.


Mukut Goswami is the treasurer, Shashank Bhavani is the cultural secretary, Pubali Sharma is the literary editor and Dibyajyoti Das is the sports secretary of the state committee. On the other hand, Ishadul Alam, Himashree Kalita, Gayatri Deka, Dulal Deka, Mridusmita Deka are appointed as the executive members. Hirak Bhattacharya is in charge of the office secretary. Similarly, the organizing secretaries are Jintu Saikia, Himanshu Das, Dwipjyoti Saharia, Mesar Ali, Mintu Sharma, Nayan Das, Sanjeev Majumdar and Khamrul Islam. The Association of Indian Journalists (Assam) will work for the welfare of journalists in the state.
