Guwahati: In a grand celebration of former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta’s 72nd birthday, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya inaugurated two novels authored by Padmashree Dr. Joyashree Goswami Mahanta, a Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer. The event was held at Hotel Rajdhani Regency, Guwahati.
The novels, “Vidur”, based on the Mahabharata, and the English version of her acclaimed “Chanakya”, were published by Chandra Prakash.
Prominent dignitaries, including Dr. Harsha Bhattacharjee, President of Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya, and Narendra Nath Dutta, CMD of Down Town Hospital and Founder Chancellor of Assam Down Town University, attended the occasion.
Governor Acharya praised Dr. Joyashree Goswami Mahanta for her literary contributions and called the novels “the best birthday gift” for her husband, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta. He, along with other attendees, extended heartfelt wishes to the former Chief Minister.
Publisher Rabindra Mohan Sarma said that the books would be circulated across Assam and made available at the upcoming Assam Book Fair.
