Guwahati: The Assam government has introduced robust measures to combat cheating in public recruitment examinations and the leakage of question papers. The Assam Public Examination Bill (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment), 2024, proposing strict penalties, was presented on the first day of the Budget session in the 126-member State Assembly on Monday.

Furthermore, the bill stipulates that anyone, including examinees or individuals involved in the conduct of public exams, engaging in or attempting to engage in conspiracy-related unfair means could face imprisonment ranging from five to ten years. The fines for such offenses may range from ₹10 lakh to ₹10 crore.
These stringent measures are designed to safeguard the integrity of public examinations, ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process while acting as a deterrent against any form of malpractice.
