Assam Government Suspends Mobile Internet for Exam

Guwahati: The Assam government has ordered the suspension of mobile internet services across the state on Sunday, September 15, 2024, during the written examination for recruitment to Grade III posts. Mobile internet, mobile data, and mobile Wi-Fi services unavailable to ensure a fair and transparent exam process, according to an official notification. However, voice calls and broadband services on fixed telephone lines remains functional.

The decision has been made to prevent potential cheating and maintain law and order during the exam. A similar suspension occurred in August 2022 during Grade III and IV recruitment exams.

On Sunday, 11,23,204 candidates will appear for the exam at 2,305 centers across the state. Among them, 429 centers have been marked as sensitive due to past incidents of cheating and their remote locations.

The exam is being held for HSSLC-level Grade III posts, and special measures have been put in place to facilitate candidates’ travel. The Northeast Frontier Railway operates 12 special trains making 28 trips, along with extended destinations for four regular trains making eight trips.

Exams for bachelor’s degree-level and HSLC-level (drivers) posts of Grade III will be held on separate dates.
