Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has issued show cause notices to five senior leaders, including MLAs Abdur Rashid Mondol, Rekibuddin Ahmed, and Bharat Chandra Narah, following allegations of anti-party activities during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Along with the three MLAs, notices were also sent to Mira Barthakur, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress president, and Samsuddin Barlaskar, Hailakandi District Congress Committee president.
Barthakur had contested the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket. The Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) launched a detailed investigation and asked the five leaders to respond within a week to charges of violating party discipline.

A release from APCC stated that the DAC examined the situation on the ground in several districts, including South Salmara-Mancachar, Goalpara, and Kamrup, aiming to identify members involved in anti-party actions. The committee also emphasized that statements made publicly or on social media against party leadership damage morale and create confusion among members.
The DAC received 56 complaints from Congress units across the state, with discussions held with grassroots party members and leaders. The findings will be reported to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) for further action.
