Addressing the media in Guwahati, Bhattacharjee highlighted that the party’s distancing from his involvement in party-related activities prompted his decision. “When the party started to distance me from party-related activities, I realized that the time has come to make a decision. Based on that, I am resigning from all the posts I hold in the Bharatiya Jatiya Congress, effective from today,” Bhattacharjee stated.

He confirmed submitting his resignation letter in writing to the concerned authorities, emphasizing that he would no longer have any affiliation with the Bharatiya Jatia Congress. His decision comes after expressing his readiness to “pack his bags” in a post on his official X handle on January 7.

“Respected @JitendraSAlwar Sir. After watching the list, I have decided to stop all my activities as I’m not qualified for a member. Ready to pack my luggage. Regards,” he wrote.
